Purpose Recording the level of knowledge of adolescents in secondary education about contraception and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It demonstrates the importance of issues related to sex education and health and is one of the main objectives of the DUTH Family Planning Laboratory.

Material and method This retrospective study was designed after the approval of the Pedagogical Institute and the Department of Education, addressed to pupils of the secondary school in the prefecture of Evros. The survey was carried out in nine high schools (five general and four vocational) during the period November - March of the 2014-2017 school year and 68 participated students who, following the written consent of their guardian, completed anonymously the relevant questionnaire.

Results According to our results, their information was covered by 39.5 % of their families and by 38.5 % of social media. 12 % of educational institutions reported inadequate information to 10 % of students. A significant proportion of students (45 %) have started their sex lives while the overwhelming majority (69.6 %) find themselves sufficiently informed about STDs and contraception. 90 % reported lack of information from the state.

Conclusion Although relatively small in number participants, there is an urgent need for our country to develop a coordinated adolescent education policy on sexuality and health issues, as well as contraception, with the upgrading of family planning centers.
