Introduction The aim of this study was to investigate the association between sexual transmitted diseases (std) with abortions and preterm labor in Thrace.

Material and methods 200 young pregnant women were examined in the department of obstetrics and gynecology in Didimotichon hospital. The data of the study participants were analyzed according to the course of pregnancy that is first trimester abortion and the cases of preterm labor who the neonates were admitted in neonatal intensive care unit.

Results Between 2007 and 2016, 200 young pregnant women with std were examined and taken vaginal swab specimens and the laboratory findings revealed in 85 women chlamydia, in 45 ureoplasma urealiticum, in 12 positive culture for garnderella vaginallis and in the rest of the cultures mycoplasma hominis and group b streptococcus, in 48 and 10 cases respectively. Very high rates of appearance of STDs found in teenagers pregnant women especially under 16 years of age due to lack of proper information and non-use of barrier methods. In cases of untreated STDs were noticed in the absolute majority 90 (30/35) abortions of first trimester. In cases of early treatment of the vaginal infection and re-examination were found preterm delivery in 90% of them in not less than 32 weeks, infant infection may be induced.

Conclusion There is a need in this age group for information that STD are not always symptomatic, and if symptoms exist, there are usually nonspecific. Treatment of sexual partners and re-examination to prevent recontamination is of great importance
