It is my pleasure and honor to introduce Dr Jason Hall as this volume's guest editor. Jason is the Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Boston University (BU), Boston, MA. He was born in Worcester, MA, and grew up in northern Mexico and central Massachusetts. He received his undergraduate at the College of the Holy Cross and medical school training at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, prior to completing his General Surgery Residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA. Following this, he completed his fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA. Jason stayed at Lahey for a few years, serving as the Program Director for the Colorectal Surgery Residency program, before leading the colorectal division at BU. Along the way, he also received his MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA.

I have had the pleasure to know Jason over the years and have enjoyed his enthusiasm, wit, and expertise. Jason is a busy surgeon, wonderful teacher, and one of the brightest people I know. He enjoys reoperative and minimally invasive colorectal surgery. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications, has presented nationally and internationally, and has served the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons on various committees. Jason and his wife and daughter (who wants to be an author and drive a bulldozer) currently reside in Boston, MA. In his free time, he enjoys lifting heavy things, riding bicycles, reading, engaging in rudimentary carpentry, and playing music.

On a personal level, I would like to thank Jason for his hard work with this volume. He is a thought leader on diverticulitis, has led our ASCRS national guideline on the disease, and has presented all over the world on this topic. On behalf of the readers and staff of Clinics of Colon and Rectal Surgery, I sincerely thank Dr Hall for serving as a Guest Editor and providing us with a superb issue on diverticulitis.
