Welcome address

Dear colleagues,

This abstract volume gives you a comprehensive overview of the diverse scientific contributions to this year's 91st annual meeting of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (DGHNO-KHC) in Berlin.

The scientific presentations on the one hand cover the extensive spectrum of our specialist area and on the other hand also reflect the thematic focus on the main congress topic "Which - Quality makes the difference".

The definition of quality features for effectiveness assessment of different therapeutic areas of otolaryngology now takes up a lot of space in the presentation of our subjects. This is not limited to the benefit assessment considerations of the G-BA (governmental regulations) or regulatory instruments striven for by payers, but extends from medical guidelines to the sophisticated concept of evidence. In terms of the definition of "evidence", the term “quality” affects far more, since from a medical point of view it relates to the structure of the provided services, the quality of training of medical and specialist teams, the overall package of pre- and post-treatment workflows and the term “Interdisciplinarity” in many treatment fields extends.

This abstract volume makes it clear how extensive and diverse sub-specialized our beautiful medical field has become. The contributions from the ranks of our society are flanked by contributions from all over the world, which are an expression of the wonderful networking of many of our members.
