Hemangiomas are a benign vascular proliferation, 50% of which are located in the head and neck areas such as: lips, tongue, palate and oral mucosa. Usually present at birth, hemangiomas rarely affect adults. In this paper we present a rare case of a giant tongue hemangioma affecting a 73 year old male. Different treatment modalities such as: radiotherapy, cryotherapy, laser therapy, medical treatment, injection of sclerosing agents and even the embolization of the lingual artery were discussed. Due to its size, speaking, eating and breathing implications, surgery was selected as the proper intervention type. At six months follow up the patient is sign and symptom free.
