Summary

In rats the severe and often fatal hemorrhagic diathesis induced by phenindione overdosage can be prevented by various catatoxic steroids such as ethylestrenol, SC-11927, spironolactone, norbolethone and oxandrolone. Conversely, steroids previously shown to possess no catatoxic potency in other test systems offer little or no protection against phenindione intoxication.
