Summary

Human platelets were tested for the presence of factor VIII employing a modified partial thromboplastin system. Factor VIII was present on the surface of normal platelets after they had been washed five times in human Ringer solution containing 0.1 mM EDTA. Washed platelets from VIII deficient patients adsorbed factor VIII from normal plasma both in vitro and in vivo.
