Summary

Antithrombin III activity and thrombin times were assayed in maturity onset diabetics, atherosclerotic patients and normal subjects. There was a close correlation between the Antithrombin III activity and thrombin times in all three groups. Reductions in these measurements in diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis, independent of thromboembolic phenomena, support the theory of Antithrombin III deficiency in these diseases.
