Vascular anatomy of the knee joint in the cynomolgous monkey and human being was compared
to determine if the nonhuman primate was an acceptable model for preserving the vascularity
of certain tissues during human orthopaedic surgical procedures. Specimens, consisting
of osseous tissue and replicas of existing arteries and arterioles, were created using
the methyl methacrylate perfusion — soft tissue corrosion technique. Arterial supply
to various structures of the knee joint in both species essentially arose from the
same sources.
