An eight month old Rottweiler was presented with signs of a cervical spinal cord lesion. Hypoplasia of the dens and subsequent atlantoaxial (A-A) subluxation was diagnosed by radiography. The A-A joint was arthrodesed by use of 4.0 mm cannulated screws. The dog regained full neurological function.
