Mehr als 15 000 Urologen trafen sich Mitte Mai in Washington zur Jahrestagung der American Urological Association (AUA). Angesichts der zunehmenden Überalterung in den westlichen Industrieländern stehen Malignome der harnableitenden Organe immer mehr im Blickpunkt dieses Fachs. Die Vorträge und Poster dokumentieren, dass es neben den etablierten Therapien mittlerweile eine Fülle neuer Behandlungsansätze – systemisch, lokal, Chemotherapie, Antikörper, Vakzine – gibt, die in verschiedenen Stadien der klinischen Entwicklung sind.
