Zusammenfassung:

Die septische Arthritis des Rindes ist eine komplizierte Erkrankung des Bewegungsapparates. Je weiter der Erkrankungsprozess fortgeschritten ist, umso ungünstiger wird die Prognose und aufwendiger die Therapie. In diesem Artikel werden das diagnostische und therapeutische Vorgehen bei der septischen Monarthritis des Rindes besprochen und verschiedene Techniken eines adäquaten, multimodalen Schmerz - managements (lokale, allgemeine Anästhesie, prä- und postoperatives Schmerzmanagement, Antiphlogese) vorgestellt.

Summary:

Septic arthritis in cattle is a complex disease of the locomotor system and must be considered an emergency. The further the illness has deteriorated, the less favourable is the prognosis, and treatment involves higher expenditure. This article describes the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in cases of septic monoarthritis in cattle and different approaches for adequate pain management (local and general anaesthesia, pre- and post-operative pain management) are discussed.
