Die Mehrzahl der Achillessehnenbeschwerden betreffen das mittlere Sehnendrittel. Etwa ein Drittel der Fälle sind auf Probleme im Insertionsbereich der Achillessehne am Fersenbein zurückzuführen. Betroffen davon sind Sportler/innen (Laufsport, Ballsport), Tänzer/innen (Ballett) und Nicht-Sportler in „höherem” Alter von 40 bis 60 Jahren.
