Summary

Shoe-modifications are mostly used for conservative treatment of the painful primary or secondary osteoarthritis. It is also used at fatigue fractures to protect the affected region, as well as for prevention of further fractures. Another indication is to protect the arthrodesis and prevent osteoarthritis in nearby joints. Applying an appropriate shoe-modification with a rigid sole in combination with measures in „roll-support” the shoe can relieve and protect the affected foot. In this article will be given an overview of the possibilities of shoe-modifications and their indications.
