Resumen

Es importante que todos los especialistas que tratan a pacientes afectados de artritis reumatoide (AR), conozcan las distintas opciones terapéuticas disponibles, tanto médicas como quirúrgicas, y su manejo en las distintas fases del tratamiento. Nuestro objetivo es actualizar lo que como cirujanos debemos saber sobre el tratamiento médico de la enfermedad, cómo manejar los fármacos durante la programación de la cirugía y cuál es la evidencia sobre las distintas opciones quirúrgicas que podemos barajar ante diversas situaciones originadas por un aparente mismo patrón: la sinovitis.

Abstract

It is important that all specialists involved in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients are aware of the different medical and surgical options available and their management in the different phases of the disease. Our objective is to update what the surgeons should know about the medical treatment of the disease, how to handle the drugs during the programming of the surgery and what is the evidence about the different surgical options in the different situations originated by an apparent pattern, synovitis.
