Introduction:

C. M. Boger was a leading and prominent homeopathic physician in the USA. During his long career of medical practice and research, he contributed exceedingly to homeopathy by his writings and successful treatment of incurable diseases. He has authored several, notable books.

Boger's concept:

The importance is given to causation, concomitants, modalities and pathological generals. His concepts clearly denote, that all the symptoms (general and particular) can be split into its components (location, sensation and modalities) and a comprehensive picture can emerge, if arranged properly and perceived carefully. Thus, the whole picture; the image of the sickness can be properly utilized for selection of simillimum.

Methodology:

Based on the above concepts, the following methodologies are used to select simillimum in day to day practice using: causative modalities, modalities, concomitants, pathological generals, clinical rubrics, complete symptoms and the fever totality. Adoption of one of these methods depends purely on the availability of the whole picture in the case.

Application of the methodology: Cases have been worked out by application of the above methods, and were successful in several cases.

A case of myocardial infarction was cured in our homeopathic hospital following Boger's methodology of 'using concomitant' – the case has been monitored in hospital with documentation of an echocardiogram as well as ECG during the treatment.

A few cases of PCOD have also been treated, based on this methodology.

A case of PUO was treated following the fever totality method.
