How can the combination of primary conventional cancer therapy and subsequent homeopathic follow-up treatment improve the recovery, rehabilitation and quality-of-life in otherwise palliative oncologic patients?
Presentation of an exemplary case study of a patient with astrocytoma after incomplete tumor resection due to partial inoperability. Homeopathic follow-up treatment was initiated as a palliative measure after conventional treatment options had been exhausted.
Upon initial homeopathic case taking the patient presented neurologic signs and symptoms of slowed speech, reduced memory and cognition, 75% working disability due to short term memory impairment and a marked depression. His further oncologic perspective was a palliative treatment.
Homeopathic treatment of the patient was initiated with a simillimum remedy which was not changed throughout the entire treatment period. The only variation was adjustments in potency.
Despite of a very poor initial prognosis, the psychological quality-of-life parameters of the patient rapidly improved after initiation of homeopathic treatment, followed by a gradual but steady improvement of neurologic deficits, which have remained stable for 10 years to date.
Initial patient condition and follow-up progress have been video-documented over the years and will be presented.
This case exemplifies the extraordinary potential for symptomatic, as well as quality-of-life improvements even for patients with advanced cancer. An integrated primary oncologic treatment accompanied by an exacting homeopathic remedy follow-on care is upmost important.
