Homeopathy is an effective method for treatment of benign tumors of the connective tissue. Uterine fibroids represent a good model to demonstrate this statement. Clinical investigation confirmed the ability of homeopathy to slow down tumor growth and even to reduce its size, to arrest pain and abnormal endometrial bleeding. 67 women suffering from uterine fibroid were under observation. 12 of them also had various fibromas: breasts fibroids, keloids, dermatofibroma and chondromyxoid fibroma. All patients were given homeopathic treatment, according to the unicism, adding occasionally complementary remedies. The period of treatment varied from one to ten years. Standard examinations, ultrasonic scanning and mammography were carried out. In some cases hysteroscopy and diagnostic endometrial curettage were done, furthermore fibroid biopsy was used to control histology. The choice of medication was not limited to the relevant rubrics of the repertory but was made on the basis of the totality of symptoms. Special attention was paid to the relationship of the fibroids with the patient's psychological profile. Selection of the homeopathic remedy also depended on the personal peculiarities and the qualification of the homeopath. If menorrhagia or pains came back after successful initial treatment, the prescription was changed, taking account on miasms. In some other cases potency and/or frequency of the remedy was changed. In the course of treatment the “inverse relation” between the uterine bleeding and the fibroid size was noted.
