Multi-disciplinary integration – the ideal solution?

In this paper an attempt is made to highlight the advantages of “Networking and Multi-Disciplinary Integration” at a clinical setting by the name of 'Delphis', a centre for complementary medicine and therapies, run by experts for homeopathy, anthroposophic medicine, humanistic counselling, nutrition counselling, physiotherapy and external therapies. The primary objective was to integrate some of the popularly accepted holistic medical disciplines and therapies to achieve a maximum healing benefit within a minimal time and financial effort.

This is a retrospective longitudinal cohort study of 3500 patients over the last 10 years till today, from the client base of “Delphis”. The data was analysed compared to various parameters such as: cost benefit ratio, cycle time to cure (improve condition), quality of life, safety outcomes focusing on various diseases/illnesses. Statistical data analysis was conducted using R software (Open source tool). Appropriate statistical techniques, such as testing of Hypothesis and Regression were used to understand the outcome metrics and their correlation of various subgroups.

Progressively, a conceptual framework of this model evolved, defined its limitations and scope, which prompted us to develop strategies for forming a network of doctors, a cross-references system, the utilization of communication tools and case record systems, etc., through innovative technologies. The most evident benefit was the distinct advantage of integration and the networking approach, on all the parameters of the study.
