In this issue, we highlight three updates from established multicenter research groups MOON (Multicenter Orthopaedic Outcomes Network), MARS (Multicenter ACL Revision Study), and ROCK (Research Osteochondritis Dissecans Knee). MOON started by Kurt P. Spindler and nine other orthopedic surgeons in 2000 has been highly successful with its primary focus on a prospective longitudinal cohort of primary ACL reconstruction patients. Ultimately, it obtained NIH funding and demonstrated that this study design can deliver field changing research that impacts clinical management of these patients. It has also inspired and served as a resource for subsequent groups. The worse revision ACL reconstruction results noted early in MOON led to the offshoot MARS group to assemble a larger group to accumulate enough patients for analysis. ROCK followed their lead and established a group to look at an important issue for young patients with its focus on OCD lesions. Realizing no single surgeon can accumulate enough patients quickly enough to analyze the many facets involved with this complex issue, they have assembled a vibrant group looking at a multitude of issues.

In this issue are three updates on recent research efforts and findings for these groups. Hopefully you will find these interesting and thought provoking. You may find you want more information and explore their bibliographies for more detail regarding these studies. Also feel free to reach out to leaders for these groups if you have questions or want to explore forming a new group to look at the many unanswered questions in orthopedics. I know we would be glad to discuss our experience.
