The chemical principles of the leaves of Cinnamomum kanehirae Hayata
Cinnamomum kanehirae Hayata is an endemic species of Cinnamomum plants and native in Taiwan. Dry C. kanehirae leaves (13.2 Kg) were extracted by EtOAc at room temperature. The EtOAc extract showed significant cytotoxic activities against human esophageal adenocarcinoma (BE-3) and human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (CE 81T/VGH) cell lines. Thirty-two compounds were isolated from the EtOAc extract of C. kanehirae. Lignans, flavonoids and coumarins were the major components. Three new coumarins, cinnakanin A-C, and two new cyclobutyl aliphatic alcohols, cinnakanol A-B, were isolated for the first time from the natural source. The pigments of Antrodia camphorata grown inside the C. kanehirae tree trunk was also purified.
