  • Urindauerkatheter sollten nur bei strenger Indikationsstellung und so kurz wie möglich zum Einsatz kommen.

  • Das Anlegen und der Umgang mit einem Katheter dürfen nur mittels aseptischer Technik erfolgen.

  • Memocards bzw. Checklisten im Rahmen der Infektionsprävention sollten nicht nur für CAUTI, sondern als umfassendes strategisches Werkzeug zum Verbessern der ärztlichen Visitenqualität dienen.

  • Schulungen von Personal, Patienten und Angehörigen sind sinnvoll.

  • Rückmeldung von Infektionsraten und Teammotivation zur Prävention von katheterassoziierten Harnwegsinfektion und Identifizierung von CAUTI als lohnende Präventionsziele.
