Wegener's Granulomatosis and Different Presentations at Otorhinolaryngology

Introduction: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener) is a systemic vasculitis with involvement of the upper airways (UA) in 90% of cases, and the nasal cavity the most frequent site. Ear infections are described as the first manifestation in 25% of cases. However, facial paralysis, dysphonia, stridor, hearing loss, vertigo, and tinnitus are also reported ENT symptoms.

Objective: The study aims to describe a series of three cases where the presentation of the disease was through these complaints.

Materials and Methods: A descriptive study of a series of three consecutive cases at a tertiary hospital with literature review.

Conclusion: Involvement of VAS with systemic changes must entertain the possibility of vasculitis mainly to the otolaryngologist are refractory to the usual therapies requiring a multidisciplinary research and the search for differential diagnosis, thereby altering the prognosis of these patients; even when they do not include all laboratory findings of the disease.
