Perioperative Antibiotikaprophylaxe – Wann ist der Einsatz gerechtfertigt?

Die kurzzeitige, meist 1-malige Verabreichung eines Antibiotikums kurz vor einer Operation soll die bakterielle Besiedlung im OP-Gebiet hemmen und das Risiko postoperativer Wundinfektionen reduzieren. Doch ist die perioperative Antibiotikaprophylaxe tatsächlich bei Standardoperationen notwendig? Im Folgenden soll die Frage beantwortet und ein aktueller Überblick über den derzeitigen Stand der Diskussionen zum prophylaktischen Einsatz von Antibiotika zur Reduktion postoperativer Wundinfektionen gegeben werden.
