Mesembryanthemum species (Aizoaceae) are halophytes widely found in the semi-arid zones of Egypt. Chemical investigation of the hexane extract of Mesembryanthemum forsskaolii Hochst. Ex. Boiss herb led to the isolation of epi-ikshusterol (1), β-sitosterol (2), β-amyrin (3), three monoglycerides (4 – 6), and β-sitosterol-3-O-glucoside (7). Investigation of the more polar fractions led to isolation of apigenin (8), kampherol-3-O- rutinoside (9), isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside (10), and rutin (11). All of the isolated compounds are reported for the first time from this plant and their identification was done using extensive 1D/2D NMR study.
