The purpose of this study is to isolate and identify potential anti-diabetic components of Alisma orientale to serve as bioactive markers for the standardization of dietary supplement preparations containing this plant, as well as to provide lead compounds for the pharmaceutical development of anti-diabetic drugs. This poster presents current work on the α-glucosidase enzyme inhibition assay and subsequent fractionation schemes employed. Data presented include the activity assessment of extracts and chromatographic fractions as well as the structure and activity of compounds isolated from this species.
