The leaves, stems and trunks of the trees of Daniella oliveri and Jatropha curcas have been reported to possess pharmacological activities such as antibacterial, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antioxidant, expectorant, diuretic, purgative and gastrointestinal complaints. The aim of the work was to carry out a comparative study on the seed oils of Daniella oliveri and Jatropha curcas using GC-MS.The GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of three bioactive compounds in Jatropha curcas, but two bioactive compounds in Daniella oliveri.Jatropha curcas contains Palmitic acid, methyl ester; Methyl 11-octadecenoate and Methyl isostearate.

Daniella oliveri contains Methyl 14-methylpentadecanoate and Methyl (9E, 12E)-9, 12-octadecadienoate.The compounds of the seed oils are similar and they contain methyl esters.
