Summary

I discovered a fundamental difference between Kentʼs and Hahnemannʼs concepts of disease, which has undervalued the importance of disease pathophysiology in homeopathic therapeutics. I argue that biological mechanisms operating behind interindividual variations in disease can explain those symptoms, which are peculiar to a patient. My study shows that interindividual variations in diseases arise due to multiple factors including interindividual variability in vascular supply, influence of pharmacological agents, age factor and interindividual variations in host immunogenetic factors. These factors contribute to individual specific pathophysiologic mechanisms, which give rise to individual specific clinical features. Knowledge of these mechanisms can overcome limitations associated with clinical features.
