Das Atemwegssyndrom brachyzephaler Hunderassen, die sich aufgrund ihrer Kopfform großer Beliebtheit erfreuen, geht mit mehr oder weniger schweren klinischen Symptomen bis hin zum Erstickungstod einher. Erkrankungen der unteren Atemwege können den Krankheitsverlauf erschweren und prognostischen Einfluss nehmen, sodass eine diagnostische Aufarbeitung sinnvoll ist.
