Background: Endogolin has been reported to be elevated in preeclampsia.

Setting: A Tertiary University Teaching Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.

Design: A Retrospective Study.

Aim: To investigate whether Endogolin is significantly elevated in Nigerian women since such report is limited in Nigeria.

Methods and Material: 5 ml venous blood were taken, centrifuged, separated and stored at -200C in preeclampsia (9mild and 17 severe) and 30 patients with normal pregnancy of the same gestational period formed the control group. Endogolin was assayed using Elisa method. For statistical analysis, Student't' test was used.

Results: Endogolin levels were significantly higher in preeclampsia group (29,617.9 ng/ml and 41,616.2 ng/ml) when compared to the normal group (6.3 P < 0.05)

Conclusion: Our results showed that Endogolin is significantly elevated in preeclampsia, confirming other reports.
