Fazit

Ein unter der Geburt aufgetretener Sauerstoffmangel kann zu einer neuronalen Schädigung mit nachfolgender Ausbildung einer hypoxisch-ischämischen Enzephalopathie führen. Eine schnelle Diagnose der Asphyxie mit Vorliegen einer moderaten oder schweren HIE ist für einen frühzeitigen Beginn einer Hypothermiebehandlung unabdingbar. Die Hypothermiebehandlung sollte so schnell wie möglich, spätestens 6 Stunden nach der Geburt begonnen und für 72 Stunden fortgeführt werden. Für die Abschätzung der Prognose eignen sich der klinische Verlauf, das aEEG und die MRT-Bildgebung.
