Dialysing on a cruise ship is a special challenge. Logistic as well as technical features have to be managed. Material has always to be bunkered prior to the journey in adequate amounts for the whole trip. Nothing may be forgotten as a reorder and subsequent delivery prove to be very difficult. The technical infrastructure has to be of a high quality and stability. Dialysis machines have to be provided in a sufficient number as repairs and acquisition of substitutes are often not possible on the way. Not least, the process of dialysis treatment has to be adapted to the ship operation and land excursions so that the patients can enjoy the journey.
