Zusammenfassung

Eine leitliniengerechte Blutkulturdiagnostik ist für eine erfolgreiche Therapie septischer Patienten unverzichtbar. Eine flächendeckende praktische Umsetzung ist jedoch noch nicht erreicht und wird zudem durch logistische Faktoren erschwert. Neue Ansätze zur fortlaufenden Überwachung, Erfassung und Bewertung von nosokomialen Infektionen versprechen zukünftig jedoch eine erheblich verbesserte diagnostische Qualität und präzisere Aussagen zum Stand der Resistenzentwicklung.
