Fazit

Auch wenn es aufwendig erscheint, so lohnt sich die bestmögliche Anpassung der Energie- und Nährstoffzufuhr an den individuellen Bedarf bei Früh- und Mangelgeborenen wegen der positiven kurzfristigen Wirkungen und den lebenslang begleitenden Programmierungseffekten besonders. Wird berücksichtigt, dass neben der Senkung von Mortalität, Morbidität und von Behandlungskomplikationen (wie z. B. der Inzidenz von nosokomialen Infektionen) auch langfristige Wirkungen erzielt werden können (z. B. eine Reduktion der Inzidenz von Adipositas, metabolischem Syndrom, Typ-I-Diabetes usw.), so erscheint der Aufwand – im Vergleich zum Nutzen – als gering. Langfristig ist darum bedarfsgerechte, individuelle klinische Ernährung ein gutes Investment in die Gesundheit von Neugeborenen und unsere Gesellschaft.
