Die placebokontrollierte, doppelblinde, randomisierte und multizentrische HESTIA-Studie (Effects of Dronedarone on Atrial Fibrillation Burden in Subjects with permanent pacemakers) ging der Frage nach, ob Dronedaron die Gesamtdauer von Vorhofflimmerperioden (AF-Burden; Vorhofflimmerlast) reduzieren kann (Studienleiter: Michael D.
