Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Karl-Walter Jauch – Präsident der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Chirurgie 2012/2013

Seit 1. Juli 2012 ist Professor Dr. med. Dr. med. h. c. mult. Karl-Walter Jauch Präsident der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Chirurgie (DGCH) und damit auch Tagungspräsident des 130. Kongresses der DGCH, der vom 30. April bis 3. Mai 2013 in München stattfinden wird.

Karl-Walter Jauch wurde 1952 in Villingen-Schwenningen geboren und studierte von 1971–78 Humanmedizin an der Albrecht-Ludwig-Universität Freiburg. Dort promovierte er auch über ein Thema zu aortokoronaren Bypassoperationen. Nach einer Tätigkeit als Truppenarzt folgte von 1979–1981 eine Tätigkeit als Assistenzarzt an der Chirurgischen Klinik Villingen unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. E. Pross. Die chirurgische Ausbildung setzte er dann ab 1981 an der Klinik und Poliklinik für Chirurgie, Klinikum Großhadern, der LMU München unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. G. Heberer, und seit 1989 von Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. F. W. Schildberg fort. In München erfolgte dann auch 1988 die Habilitation sowie 1995 die Ernennung zum außerplanmäßigen Professor. Von 1996 bis 2002 war Karl-Walter Jauch Direktor der Klinik und Poliklinik für Chirurgie der Universität Regensburg. Seit 2002 hat er die Position des Direktors der Klinik und Poliklinik für Chirurgie am Klinikum Großhadern (jetzt Klinik für Allgemeine, Viszeral-, Transplantations-, Gefäß- und Thoraxchirurgie), LMU München, inne.
