Summary

Despite the documented use of homeoprophylaxis (HP) from 1798 to the present day it remains a controversial part of mainstream homeopathy. Evidence supporting both the short-term and long-term effectiveness and safety is presented. Special attention is paid to validation of data from the recent massive HP interventions in Cuba. The philosophical basis of HP is also considered and suggestions that it is not a valid part of mainstream homeopathy are addressed. Appropriate HP is found to be highly effective, to have a positive impact on long-term health and to be a legitimate part of classical homeopathy.
