Einleitung

Die implantatgestützte prothetische Versorgung kommt immer häufiger auch beim älteren Patienten zur Anwendung. Das Behandlungsspektrum ist vielfältig:

  • Ersetzung fehlender Zähne mit Einzelzahnimplantaten oder Brückenkonstruktionen

  • Positionierung zusätzlicher strategischer Pfeiler (zur Verbesserung der Prognose des Zahnersatzes bei zahlreich fehlenden Pfeilern)

  • feste Verankerung von herausnehmbarem Zahnersatz

  • Vermeidung von herausnehmbarem Zahnersatz

Bei der Planung eines implantatgestützten Zahnersatzes im Alter müssen zusätzlich zur üblichen Vorgehensweise (die vor allem die vorhandene Knochenquantität beurteilt) altersspezifische Probleme bedacht werden: Diverse allgemeinmedizinische Erkrankungen haben Einfluss auf die Einheilung der Implantate, auch sind Patienten oder Pflegepersonal nicht immer in der Lage, solche Konstruktionen adäquat zu reinigen, da es an spezieller Schulung fehlt.
