Today's, there is an amazing increase in the demand for skin lightening products. We have developed a new natural extract inhibiting melanin production: an oregano leaf extract, Origa'light®. This extract has a significant and dose-dependent lightening activity. It shows a strong inhibition of melanogenesis by a decrease of melanin content (-13%) and tyrosinase activity (-14%) in B16 murine melanocytes*. Moreover, with a SPF of 7.14 and a proved photostability, it has interesting photoprotective properties. It has also strong antioxidant activities against DPPH and superoxide anion radicals (IC50=16.0µg/mL and 7.4µg/mL). Thus, Origa'light® is an excellent cosmetics multi-active ingredient: skin lightening, sun protector and antioxidant.
