Einleitung

Der Status epilepticus ist ein ernster medizinischer Notfall, der frühzeitig diagnostiziert und behandelt werden muss. Die Komplikationsrate und Mortalität insbesondere des Status epilepticus generalisierter tonisch-klonischer Anfälle (SGTKA) sind hoch. Darüber hinaus gibt es zahlreiche andere nonkonvulsive und damit weniger offensichtliche Formen des Status epilepticus, die ebenfalls rasch einer Behandlung zugeführt werden müssen, aber mitunter schwierig zu diagnostizieren sind. Immer wieder manifestieren sich akute Erkrankungen des Gehirns als Status epilepticus, die ihrerseits dringend einer Behandlung bedürfen.

Diese Arbeit ist ein Überblick über die gegenwärtigen Diagnose- und Therapieleitlinien des Status epilepticus.
