In order to study the effect of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) on agronomic characteristic and root colonization in fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.), an experiment was conducted in western of Iran in 2008 and 2009 growing seasons. The factors were Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (Azotobacter inoculation with and non-inoculated) and nitrogen application (0, 40, 80Kg/ha-1). The treatments were arranged as factorial in a randomized complete blocks design with three replications. Results showed that the highest grain yield, umbrella per plant, biological yield and root colonization percent were obtained with Azotobacter treatment. Nitrogen application was significant affected on studies traits. The highest grain yield, biological yield and root colonization percent obtain by 80Kg/ha-1. Interaction effect PGPR×nitrogen application was affected on grain yield and colonization percent. The highest grain yield and root colonization percent obtained Azotobacter×80Kg/ha-1 nitrogen.
