This article is about the immunological preconditions for immunizations of foals, the immunogenicity of tetanus vaccines and the immunoprotection of the induced antitoxins as well as the duration of postvaccinal immunity in relation to the half-life time of the protective antibodies. The necessary immunological activities in case of injuries or surgical events in horses with different immune status are discussed just as the most frequent mistakes in the application of tetanus vaccines in the daily equine practice.
