Vitamin D levels in pediatric Multiple Sclerosis patients
Aims: To determine levels of vitamin D in children with MS
Methods: Routine determination of 25OH vitamin D in serum in patients and controls.
Results: Levels of 25OH vitamin D are extremely low in patients compared to controls.
Discussion: Adequate vitamin D levels are not only necessary for bone homeostasis. In recent years the literature shows a vitamin d influence in auto inflammatory diseases like MS or diabetes type 1. We will discuss further implications of our measurements in daily care and research settings.
