Chemical Constituents from Boehmeria macrophylla

Boehmeria macrophylla Wight (Family Urticaceae), also called Shui Ma, is distributed mainly in the southwest area of China and some southern Asian countries. It has been used as an herbal medicine in China for the treatment of fever, trauma, hemorrhoids and other diseases. There has been no report on its chemical composition so far. This report outlines the isolation and identification of 8 compounds, namely β-sitosterol, β-sitosterol glucoside, ursolic acid, hydroxy6methoxycoumarin, emodin, cinnamic acid, sweroside, 5,7-dihydroxy4' methoxydihydroflavonol, from Boehmeria macrophylla.
