Zusammenfassung

Bis zur Mitte der 90er-Jahre wurde die Zöliakie überwiegend als eine eher seltene Erkrankung des Kindes- und jungen Erwachsenenalters angesehen. Nachfolgende Screeninguntersuchungen weltweit ergaben jedoch Prävalenzraten zwischen 1 : 100 bis 1 : 400 für alle Altersgruppen. In den besonderen Blickpunkt sind neuerdings ältere Erwachsene über 55 Jahren gerückt, bei denen die hier beschriebenen beson­deren Aspekte der Erkrankung hervor­gehoben werden müssen.
