Bochdalek hernia is a congenital defect of the diaphragm. Predominantly diagnosed and repaired in children, but frequently occurs in adults. Asymptomatic incidental Bochdalek hernias in adults usually diagnosed on routine X-ray examinations. The complaints of the hernia in adults usually caused by the hernialisation of an abdominal organ and diagnosed during urgent surgery. The hernias of the diaphramg can be managed by open surgery, laparosopcy or thoracoscopy depending on the position of the hernia and on the complications. Thoracic approach usually used by right-, abdominal approach recommended by left side hernias. Authors review the case of a 47 years old female patient, who had a gastric stasis and transit disorder caused by a Bochdalek hernia. The curiosity of the case is that the periodic gastric stasis occured not because of the hernialisation of the stomach. The reason of the transit disorder was a rare anatomical situation caused by the hernialisation of the colon transversum. After the repair of the hernia the recovery of the patient was uneventfull. Authors oppinion is that this situation is a rare cause of gastric stasis. Authors previously had no similar case and found no similar reports in the literature.
