The Guest Editor of this issue of Seminars in Neurology is Jerry W. Swanson, M.D. Dr. Swanson is Professor of Neurology, College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Assistant Dean for Assessment, Mayo Medical School. He is a well-known and greatly respected physician, educator, and scholar. Dr. Swanson is returning as Guest Editor having edited the issue of Seminars in Neurology on Headache in 2006.

Dr. Swanson is a graduate of Wartburg College and Northwestern University Medical School. He trained in neurology at the Mayo Clinic and it is there that he has had an incredible career. He has not only contributed a tremendous amount of knowledge to our understanding of headache disorders, but has also been a mentor to a generation of Neurology Residents and Fellows. He has written extensively on the diagnosis and management of headache and is a tremendously popular lecturer on the topic. He serves in many leadership roles at the Mayo Clinic and on the Editorial Board of Seminars in Neurology and Headache Currents.

One of the things that attracted me to neurology as a medical student is that neurologists are such gentlemen. Dr. Swanson is one of the finest. We are grateful to him and to all of the contributors of this issue of Seminars in Neurology for providing such an excellent resource to help us in the care of our patients with headache.
