Das Apnoe-Bradykardie-Syndrom des Frühgeborenen

Zusammenfassung

Eine Apnoe wird als „Unterbrechung des Gasflusses in den Atemwegen” definiert und betrifft die große Mehrheit aller Frühgeborenen. Oft entwickelt sie sich nach anfänglich problemloser Zeit innerhalb der ersten Lebenswoche und persistiert in manchen Fällen über den Entlassungstermin der Kinder nach Hause hinaus. Die Zunahme der Zahl von immer kleineren und leichteren „Frühchen” hat dazu beigetragen, die Apnoehäufigkeit stetig steigen zu lassen. Die Ursachen für die Entstehung dieses komplexen Syndroms sind anatomischer und entwicklungsphysiologischer Natur. Bis heute sind diese Gegenstand von Untersuchungen diverser wissenschaftlicher Disziplinen.
