Kombinierte adjuvante Chemo-/Immuntherapie eines diffus großzelligen Non-Hodgkin-Lymphoms bei einem 80-jährigen Patienten

Zusammenfassung

Die zunehmende Alterung der Bevölkerung der westlichen Welt bringt auch für die onkologische Therapie älterer Menschen neue Herausforderungen mit sich. Das Auftreten von malignen Lymphomen und Leukämien nimmt jenseits des 65. Lebensjahres deutlich zu. Die vorliegende Falldarstellung beschreibt die individuell, aus dem geriatrischen Blickwinkel bestimmte Auswahl und Durchführung einer innovativen Behandlungskombination aus Immun/Chemotherapie mit dem monoklonalen Antikörper Rituximab und dem Zytostatikum Bendamustin mit adjuvanter Intention bei einem 80-jährigen Patienten mit einem hochmalignen, diffus großzelligen Non-Hodgkin-Lymphom.

Summary

The continuously aging population in the western nations has to be regarded as a new challenge that requires professional strategies concerning medical oncologic treatments of the elderly. The incidence of malignant lymphoma is increasing beyond the age of 65. The presented case report describes the innovative therapy protocol that combines the monoclonal antibody rituximab with the antineoplastic agent, bendamustine, in the adjuvant treatment of an aggressive non-hodgkin lymphoma.
