Beratung und Betreuung des nierenkranken Diabetikers – Nur durch enge Kooperation zwischen den Disziplinen möglich

Etwa 7  % der Menschen mit Diabetes mellitus werden niereninsuffizient. Bei etwa jedem 3. Patienten, der neu in ein Nierenersatzverfahren aufgenommen wird, ist ein Diabetes mellitus ursächlich für sein Nierenversagen. Es mangelt an geeigneten strukturierten Beratungs– und Betreuungskonzepten in der Prädialysephase. Die Ernährung und die medikamentöse Diabetesbehandlung müssen sehr individuell dem Stadium der Niereninsuffizienz angepasst werden. Ziel sollte sein, neue Konzepte zur Beratung und Betreuung in der Prädialysephase und für dialysepflichtige Diabetiker flächendeckend einzuführen und umzusetzen.

Around seven percent of those people that suffer from diabetes develop renal impairment. Nearly every third patient that starts renal replacement therapy has a diabetic nephropathy as underlying cause. The pre–dialysis phase lacks from structured concepts for consultation and support of those affected. The nutritional and medical therapies have to become individualized adapted to the stage of kidney damage. New concepts for consultation and support for diabetics in pre–dialysis and on renal replacement therapies should not only to become introduced but also to become carried out nationwide.
